Finalists will compete in our Self Introduction Competition. Each finalist will get the chance to give a 30 second or less introduction about themselves onstage. Introductions may include the finalist's name, city, state or country. This is the chance for the finalist to let the judges know more about them! Finalists should refer to their handbook or to their director for wardrobe regulations. There is a 1 point penalty per judge for each second a contestant goes over her time limit. Self Introductions are timed.
Here are a few examples of a self introduction:
“What should I have for breakfast this morning? Eggs? Pancakes? Bacon? I know! I’ll have it all at Bob Evans Restaurant. Did you know that Bob Evans restaurant started in a little town called Rio Grande, Ohio? Well I did because that’s where I’m from! Rio Grande is also home to the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College. So, whether you’re looking for good food or education, Rio Grande, Ohio is the place to be. Hope to see you down on the farm. I am Amber Miller.”
“This is one country girl who loves my neighborhood! From playing flashlight tag after dark and hiding behind the hay bales in the field, to the smell of fresh country air and watching the Amish go by with their horse and buggy, there’s nothing better than the peace and quiet of the country life. Getting to help my neighbors and working with them to make my neighborhood a place where anyone would want to raise their children is so important to me. Coming to you from the beautiful country village of Patriot, Ohio, I am Ashley Horsley.”
Example 3 (for younger finalists)
"Higher! Higher! Higher! That's what I tell my daddy when he pushes me on my swing in my back yard. No matter what I'm doing, I like to have fun! As a 1st grader at Hannan Trace Elementary, I like to color and learn to read, but recess is MY favorite time of day! When I grow up, I want to be a baby doctor and a princess! I am a 6 year old girl with big dreams! I am Makenna Clary."
